The City of Morganton Parks and Recreation Department is holding a public input meeting for the new Parks and Recreation Master Plan at 6:00 pm, Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Mountain View Recreation Center, located a 645 First St.
Toole Design Group and The Landplan Group South were hired to create the plan.
The Public Input Meeting is an opportunity for residents to share their ideas and let the consultants and staff know what kinds of programs and amenities they want to see in Morganton now, and in the next 15 to 20 years.
“We want to know what people are proud of as far as our parks and recreation programs and what they’d like to see in the future,” Parks and Recreation Director Rob Winkler said.
The consultants have been visiting every park in the City, and they already have collected about 350 surveys. The survey is still available online at http://bit.ly/morgantonrecsurvey.
The consultants also plan to hold pop-ups on the greenway tomorrow, Saturday, June 3, to get input from greenway users. The pop-ups will be located on both ends of the River Village Boardwalk.
“I want to encourage everyone in the community who has an interest in parks and recreation to complete and return our survey and attend the public input meeting,” Winkler said. “We really do want your input. Our job is to provide the recreation facilities and programs that our residents want, and the survey and this public meeting is great way to let us know.”
